Doctors of Chiropractic are primary health care providers just like Medical Doctors? According to the Center for Studies in Health Policy, "The DC can provide all three levels of primary care interventions and therefore is a primary care provider, as are MDs and DOs. The doctor of chiropractic is a gatekeeper to the health care system and an independent practitioner who provides primary care services. The DC's office is a direct access portal of entry to the full scope of service.

After high school, she attended Huntington College in Huntington IN where she did her undergrad work. After considering many different Chiropractic schools, Dr. Spencer decided on Northwestern Heath Sciences University in Minneapolis specifically because of its strong science curriculum and close relationship with the allopathic medical community. She graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2004.
As a new doctor deciding where to practice, Dr. Spencer considered purchasing an existing practice .and expolred a number of opportunities in the midwest. However, after 15 years she decided want she really wanted to do was return to her hometown of West Lafayette for reasons which included being closer to family.
After making inquiries in the area she was offered the opportunity to practice as an associate doctor with the West Lafayette Chiropractic Center, PC under the supervision of Dr. Michael Haville for 6 months before launching Spencer Chiropractic, LLC in January 2006.
